At Netroots Nation this year the second annual PubQuiz took place. The idea - form a team and answer politial minutiae. AdamB from Daily Kos is the host. Our team, Shock and Awesome, was ready for the challenge. But we soon were "shocked" to discover we weren't as "awesome" as we thought.
bco gal :: Trivia Tuesday - PubQuiz Questions from NN (UPDATED)
Sure, we can answer questions like the President of South Africa or who is considered the "father of Texas", but really, who knew the name of the three women lawyers on Law and Order or the name of the horse that was put down during the Triple Crown?

Well apparently the team that included pacified and alan did because, in the end, their team reportedly ended up in the top three. Congrads gentlemen. Meanwhile, our team drowned our sorrows in the margaritas at Maggie Mae's later that night (which btw, would give the Rio margaritas in Boulder stiff competition).

But I digress. On to trivia. The questions below were from the PubQuiz. Oh, and btw, the answer to #6 is so surprising, if no one else gets it by later tonight, I'll post the answer.

Good luck!

UPDATE: The answer to #6, if you can believe it, is John Tyler our tenth President who served from 1841 - 1845. I'm assuming this is the article AdamB referenced when he came up with the question. Both John Tyler and his son fathered children in their 70s. The grandson is in his 80s.

#1 - Fill in the blank - During the primaries, Mike Huckabee said, "Folks, I didn't major in math. I majored in ______."

#2 - In what place did Guiliani place in the Florida primary?

#3 - What is Lady Bird Johnson's first name? Bonus: What is her middle name?

#4 - This former Speaker of the House (and Texan) once described the office of the Vice President as being "not worth a bucket of warm piss". Who is he?

#5 - Name at least one of Mitt Romney's sons.

#6 - Who is the earliest President to still have a living grandchild?

i recuse myself from this one (4.00 / 4)
being on the "Censure DiFi" team that grabbed second place in the Pub Quiz.  I didn't add much to the team, but I remember many of these answers :)

He talks like a preacher (4.00 / 2)
I remember it now (scratch my squirrel answer below) -- "I didn't major in math, I majored in miracles." And that's exactly what this Republican-sponsored economy needs!

[ Parent ]
Yes, that is correct! (4.00 / 2)

#4 and #5 (4.00 / 2)
4.  John Nance Gardner.
5.  Tagg.

Illegal is never a noun

Yes on both (4.00 / 2)
and I don't know if Gardner said that before or after he was VP under Franklin Roosevelt.

[ Parent ]
I think (0.00 / 0)
it was while he was VP.

Illegal is never a noun

Wild guesses (4.50 / 2)
1. "I majored in varmint cooking." No, really, was it something like "common sense"? I didn't know Huckabee went to college.

2. Someone already got this. Rudy had to win and any place but first killed his campaign.

3. That's a great question. Isn't it something really strange and archaic, like Malveena? (No offense to Malveenas.)

4. Someone already got this too. Cactus Jack said this, I believe, when he was being pushed aside as FDR sought a third term. Garner challenged FDR in Democratic primaries in 1940 but lost badly and lost his spot on the ticket besides.

5. There's also a Josh.

6. Teddy Roosevelt?

Answers (4.00 / 1)
#3 - It's actually not as unusual a name as that, and somewhat common (though probably not too many girls are named this today).

#4 - yes, there is a Josh

#6 - no, not Teddy

FDR? (4.00 / 1)
FDR's grandson heads up the DNC's Rules and Bylaws Committee - is he it?  I gotta' figure there's an older one out there...

[ Parent ]
Nope, not FDR (0.00 / 0)
The answer is REALLY going to surprise everyone.

[ Parent ]
A living grandchild (0.00 / 0)
could be as old as 90, though let's say 80. That could put a grandparent's birthdate back as far as 1848, if both parent and grandparent were as old as 40 when they had their last child (not that unusual for men). So, if not TR, maybe McKinley, Taft or Wilson?

[ Parent ]
No, none of them (0.00 / 0)
Believe it or not, you have to go back further.

[ Parent ]
That's got to be one old grandchild (0.00 / 0)
Hmm. How about Grover Cleveland?

It's southerner day at the Trivia bowl... (4.00 / 1)
#1 Jeeeeeeeeeeeesus!

#2 Third.

#3 Hattie McDaniel

#5 From which wife?  Oooo, that's cold.

I'm being facetious today because I endured a 16-10 shellacking last night at the Rockies game.  Here's my trivia question:  What one-hit wonder recorded "Love Rollercoaster?"  And, because no trivia day should go without a Colorado question:  Which Colorado county had the biggest plurality for Bill Ritter?  Which county had the biggest percentage?
